From time to time we host small evening tastings around the Orchard table at Himalayan Orchard, our farmstay in the hills of Himachal near Shimla.
A handful of carefully chosen wines are explored slowly alongside simple plates from the kitchen — cheeses, breads, and seasonal ingredients from the farm. These informal evenings are less about expertise and more about noticing flavour, sharing stories, and enjoying good company.
NOTE: These are small gatherings with limited seating, usually shared by 4–8 guests. These gatherings take place only occasionally, when the season and the orchard kitchen allow. If you are planning a stay at Himalayan Orchard Farmstay, you may pre-book a Wine Evening These evenings usually last about an hour to an hour and a half.
The Experience: ₹2500 per person
SAMPLE MENU 1 (Varies with the season and available wines)
Welcome Glass A light, refreshing wine served on arrival.
First Pour A bright white wine with a small seasonal plate from the Orchard kitchen.
Second Pour A fuller white or lighter red paired with warm bread and a simple farm dish.
Third Pour An elegant red wine served alongside house-made charcuterie or a rustic savoury bite.
Final Pour A deeper red or special bottle to finish the evening with aged cheese and accompaniments.
Each wine is introduced briefly and tasted slowly, with conversation around the table. Wines and pairings change with the season and what we are cooking in the Orchard kitchen.
Like many things at the orchard, the evening is simple — a few good wines, food from the kitchen, and conversation that lingers.
